Miami Lakes Cars for a Cure Foundation sole purpose is to raise funds for cancer
research. We have teamed up with the University of Miami Sylvester Cancer Center to
help those who are suffering, fight for those who we have lost and create awareness to
the public.
Our vision for this fundraiser came about, when our Father Roberto Alonso, passed
away from a rare cancer. He never stopped fighting for his life, therefore we decided to
keep fighting this disease in his name.
Roberto Alonso, was married for 42 years to his wife Idania Alonso, was a father to
three (Jessica, Roberto Jr., and Christine) grandfather to 6, a friend and mentor to
many. He was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Neuroendocrine Carcinoid Cancer,
May of 2012. He fought this horrid disease for 16 months, passing on September 26,
2013.
His will to live and survive, gave us the desire to want to help others going through the
same scenario. Roberto had a passion for antique cars and music, since a young age. He
owned a beautiful 64 Chevelle in a cherry red, which he has left to his grandchildren.
We have combined his love, thrill for cars and his fight to survive, to create the Miami
Lakes Cars for a Cure Car Show.
100% of all money raised goes directly to
